Designed by Robert Dudley Best, the Bestlite BL7 wall lamp is highly influenced by the Bauhaus period and has been in continuous production since the 1930s. BL7 is a compact wall lamp with an adjustable arm. Even the British premier Winston Churchill also fell for the Bestlite. In addition to having the table lamp on his desk in Whitehall, he also took Bestlite with him on his countless trips around the world. Loved by architects, designers and design lovers for decades, today Bestlite is a genuine global design icon.
To celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Bestlite collection, Gubi launched a limited-edition collection of four iconic Bestlite lamps in 2020. Perfected with an industrial nickel finish designed to acquire a beautiful patina, the Bestlite 90 lamps pay homage to their heritage: the first Bestlite lamps produced in 1930 didn’t find their way into private homes as expected but were enthusiastically greeted by workshops and the British Royal Air Force, as the innovative and functional lamps were just what they needed. The Bestlite 90 lamps are only available in a limited number, and each of the unique lamps comes with a numbered certificate.
