Marimekko’s Pariisin Portit cotton batiste fabric features Maija Isola’s squiggly pattern in shades of white. Made of 100% cotton, the fabric has been printed in Helsinki, Finland.
Maija Isola, one of Marimekko’s most prolific designers, created the Pariisin Portit (Finnish for ”gates of Paris”) pattern in 1952. The avid traveller often drew inspiration for her designs from her countless trips around the world. Pariisin Portit is no exception: the inspiration for the pattern, decorated with rectangles filled with squiggly lines and shapes, came from the ornate iron gates she saw during her many trips to Paris.
