Näkymä I rug
$439.00 $675.00

The Näkymä I rug, designed by Tomi Leppänen for MUM’s, is adorned with an abstract pattern based on typographical elements. Part of Leppänen’s Typewriter collection, the rug is inspired by Bauhaus and specifically the work of textile designer Anni Albers, who experimented in the 1930s with using her typewriter as a tool for making patterns. The multicolour pattern of Näkymä (Finnish for “view”) is also created using the full stops and dashes of a typewriter.

The Näkymä rug is handcrafted in India, with the pattern carefully embroidered by hand. Although the rug's appearance and texture resemble those of a tightly-woven wool rug, it is actually made of a rather surprising material: recycled PET plastic bottles. Thanks to the ingenious material, the rug is very durable, easy to care for, and suitable also for outdoor use – but doesn’t really look like an outdoor rug. Therefore, it is just as at home indoors as it is on the balcony or patio!

100% recycled PET
Off-white, orange, green, pink, yellow, black
66.93 in (170 cm)
43.31 in (110 cm)
Suitable for outdoor use. It is recommended to lift the rug off the terrace or patio from time to time, especially after rain, to allow the material underneath dry, as well.
Care instructions
Wash with lukewarm water. Spray stains with water or wipe with a damp cloth. Use a soft, gentle brush when washing the hand-embroidered details.
