PH 80 portable table lamp, opal white - high lustre chrome plated
Description
Louis Poulsen’s PH 80 portable table lamp belongs to the lighting family designed by Poul Henningsen, whose members share the designer’s pioneering three-shade system developed in the 1920s. The lamp’s three-tiered opal acrylic shades form a harmonious whole that provides soft, glare-free light while serving as an eye-catching interior detail. The red-tinted top shade casts a warm glow, while the high-gloss chrome base completes the elegant and distinctive design.
Charged via a USB-C cable, the portable table lamp features two dimming functions: the color temperature can be adjusted steplessly, and the brightness can be set to four different levels. Thanks to its cordless design, the lamp can easily be moved to illuminate, for example, a dining table.
The elegant PH 80 lamp was originally released in 1974, posthumously, to mark the 80th anniversary of Poul Henningsen’s birth – a milestone that also inspired its name.

Poul Henningsen (1894–1967) was a renowned Danish designer. He studied at the Technical School in Frederiksberg from 1911 to 1914 and continued his education at the Technical University of Copenhagen from 1914 to 1917. Henningsen began his career as an architect, but gradually shifted his focus to lighting and lamp design. Later in his life, he also worked as a journalist and writer.
Henningsen’s long-standing collaboration with Louis Poulsen began in 1925 and continued until his death. His ingenious lighting designs remain a cornerstone of Louis Poulsen’s collection to this day. He also served as the first editor of Louis Poulsen’s corporate magazine, NYT. Henningsen’s work explored the structure of light, shadow, reflection and color rendering – themes that still influence the company’s design philosophy.
