The Lasta spatula, made of maple wood, is a minimalist version of a traditional wooden spatula. Designed by Yoshimada Yomada, who lives and works in Billnäs, Finland, the wooden Lasta spatula is suitable for all kinds of cooking and all kinds of pans. The beautiful darkened surface of the spatula is achieved by charring it – this is a traditional Japanese finishing method and surface treatment for wooden products.

Lasta is part of the LOKAL x FDS collection, a collaboration created to spotlight local artisans and designers who perhaps are a little more unknown to the general public. Curated by Lokal Helsinki and Finnish Design Shop, the collection consists of unique, locally-manufactured products made in small-scale production, many even by hand in the designers' own workshops.
