Kay Bojesen’s Year Bird 2026 is named Birk. In 2025, Bojesen fans were asked to vote on the color of the next annual bird, and the choice fell on green. Alongside its teal green body, Birk features an aqua-blue beak and a forest-green head.
Birk is part of Kay Bojesen’s Songbird collection, a series of wooden figures originally designed in the 1950s, with the first birds named after members of Bojesen’s own family. When charming photographs of the flock were later discovered in a family photo album, the birds were brought into production alongside Bojesen’s other beloved wooden animals. The Songbird family is complemented by the rarer year birds, released one per year. The year bird is slightly smaller than the original Songbird figures, yet every bit as delightful – you can almost imagine it bursting into song at any moment.
Birk Year Bird is hand-painted and produced in a limited quantity, with the year 2026 engraved on its tail.
