The Vulpes Red Fox is a lilac-hued, sitting arctic fox made with complex hot and cold working techniques. Each piece features hand-engraved numbering on the base along with the signature “KlausH IITTALA,” and comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Klaus Haapaniemi himself. Klaus Haapaniemi (b. 1970) is one of Finland’s most internationally acclaimed illustrators and designers. His distinctive style blends themes drawn from Nordic nature, folklore and mythology with a luxurious and modern esthetic. A graduate of the Lahti Institute of Design, Haapaniemi has created prints for brands like Diesel, Levi’s and Dolce & Gabbana, and illustrated the beloved Iittala tableware series Taika and Satumetsä. Haapaniemi was named Finland’s Designer of the Year in 2008 and was awarded the Finnish State Prize for Design in 2018.
In 2010, Haapaniemi founded his own brand, Klaus Haapaniemi Co., together with his spouse Mia Wallenius. The collection features a range of high-quality textiles and decor items, such as decorative cushions and wallpapers. Having lived in London for many years, the designer now divides his time between Berlin, Germany, and Tampere, Finland.
