Innolux’s Perhonen is a delightfully light-spirited table lamp – its name, Finnish for “butterfly”, captures its airy character perfectly. Finnish designer Yrjö Kukkapuro originally designed the lamp in 1968 for his experimental studio house, where it quickly became essential after the ceiling sockets were accidentally forgotten during construction. Perhonen took on its final form for commercial production in the 1980s, as postmodernism made a strong impact on the design world.
The Perhonen table lamp plays gracefully with both colour and shape, and its gentle, softly toned light creates an inviting atmosphere for relaxing, reading or simply drifting into daydreams. Shade elements reminiscent of butterfly wings are crafted from translucent acrylic and joined with screws that, in true Kukkapuro fashion, are intentionally left visible. The Perhonen lamp is made in Finland.
