Icono abanderado by Perry Oliver is characterised by a strikingly bold colour palette. The etching from 2001 is a fascinating example of contemporary printmaking: even though the colours are intense, the borders between the different hues are soft and faded, giving the work an ethereal, poetic character. The work features the artist’s hand-written signature as well as an edition number at the bottom – the edition size is 50 works.

Perry Oliver

Perry Oliver (born 1941) is an American sculptor and printmaker, who has lived and worked in Spain since the 1970s. His work is highly influenced by the 1960s when pop art and minimalism were rooting. He is a singular observer of the relationships that exist, occult for many of us, between the form, the material, and the spirit. Oliver’s pieces have been in dozens of exhibitions and can be permanently found in dozens of museums and public collections, such as the Princeton University Library in New Jersey, Biblioteca Nacional in Madrid and Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt.
