Design House Stockholm's Tock table brings together old industrial aesthetics and modern functionalism. Designer Anna Kraitz has said she drew her inspiration from the shapes of cogwheels, the atmosphere of Parisian bistros, and Charlie Chaplin's film Modern Times, where man and machine come face to face. These somewhat surprising starting points come together in a table that stands with a foot in the past and a gaze on the future.
Made from solid oak, the Tock table's frame is strengthened with steel supports, and its base is finished with a fluted detail in recycled aluminium. It's a tribute to old industrial machinery, but the brushed surface of the aluminium and the clean lines bring the look firmly into the present day. The sturdy Tock table sets the scene for a quiet meal alone or a livelier gathering, whether you're enjoying it at home in the kitchen or in a restaurant.
