Description

FDB Møbler's J46 chair is a Danish design classic by Poul M. Volther from 1956. When first released, J46 was a fresh contrast among the typical, heavier dining chairs of its age. Made of solid beech, the J46 chair combines a V-shaped spindled backrest with a wide, comfortable seat. 

Now the lightweight chair has been given a refreshing new colour, created in collaboration with the Copenhagen-based design studio File Under Pop. J46 will suit dining tables of various styles and also makes a characterful centrepiece in other surroundings with its delightful shades and shapes.

Poul M. Volther

Poul M. Volther (1923-2001) was a Danish designer, who was a member of the FDB cooperative, whose aim was to create affordable furniture for everyday use. 

Volther was a trained cabinetmaker and studied later at the Arts and Crafts School in Copenhagen. As a believer in functionalism, he avoided short-lived aesthetic styles and concentrated on simple manufacture of fine materials. His best known work is the Corona chair he designed in 1961. Still today around 3000 Corona chairs are sold annually.

Shipping & Delivery

If all the items in your order are in stock, your order will be dispatched from our warehouse in Finland within two working days. The estimated delivery time is shown on the product pages and at checkout.

We offer free shipping on small items for orders over
CHF 178.

For large items, free shipping applies to orders over CHF 2400.

“Small item” refers to parcels under 80 cm in length or weighing less than 25 kg. Larger or heavier shipments are classified as “Large item deliveries” (see below).

Please note that the free shipping thresholds stated above may not apply in certain cases. In such situations, any applicable shipping fees will be clearly displayed at checkout.

Large item delivery charge range from CHF 50 to CHF 150  and is automatically calculated and displayed on the product page and at checkout. The exact cost is confirmed once your delivery address has been entered.

Large item delivery charges apply to any single parcel with a side longer than 80 cm or weighing more than 25 kg.

Please note that exceptions to these fees may apply to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of large or delicate items. In such cases, the final delivery cost will be displayed at checkout.

As a member, you’ll enjoy even better free shipping benefits on small items:

  • Level 2: Free shipping for orders over CHF 150
  • Level 3–4: Free shipping for orders over CHF 120

Exclusions apply: For large item deliveries, an additional surcharge is applied based on your location and the size and weight of your shipment.
