Description

Klaus Haapaniemi’s Purple Rain Yukata dressing gown is decorated with a vivid blue and purple pattern, featuring an ornate composition of intertwining plants. This Japanese-style unisex kimono is crafted from fine, breathable triple-layer cotton muslin that becomes softer with every wash. The long yukata-style robe with wide sleeves features patch pockets and an extra-long belt designed to wrap around the waist twice.

Illustrator and designer Klaus Haapaniemi has collaborated with designer Mia Wallenius to create a unique range of home and fashion textiles inspired by the Nordic nature and Finnish folklore. The beautiful patterns follow traditional decorative arts but their style and approach are modern. The finest natural materials combined with detailed patterns create a truly luxurious collection.

Klaus Haapaniemi

Klaus Haapaniemi (b. 1970) is one of Finland’s most internationally acclaimed illustrators and designers. His distinctive style blends themes drawn from Nordic nature, folklore and mythology with a luxurious and modern aesthetic. A graduate of the Lahti Institute of Design, Haapaniemi has created prints for brands like Diesel, Levi’s and Dolce & Gabbana, and illustrated the beloved Iittala tableware series Taika and Satumetsä. Haapaniemi was named Finland’s Designer of the Year in 2008 and was awarded the Finnish State Prize for Design in 2018.

In 2010, Haapaniemi founded his own brand, Klaus Haapaniemi Co., together with his spouse Mia Wallenius. The collection features a range of high-quality textiles and decor items, such as decorative cushions and wallpapers. Having lived in London for many years, the designer now divides his time between Berlin, Germany, and Tampere, Finland.
