Description
Nikari's Classic RMJ counter stool, just like every Nikari product, is a great example of the finest craftsmanship of a professional carpenter. Master carpenter Rudi Merz designed Classic RMJ in 1999 as a work stool for himself, but the minimalist seat has since found its way from the carpenter's workshop to homes, offices and various public environments. Nowadays part of Nikari's Cafe collection, the Classic RMJ stool boasts a beautiful and organic design that makes it a timeless piece of furniture for any home.

He originally came to the country for an internship at Yrjö Kukkapuro’s interior architecture office and has since played a significant role in Finnish wood design – both as a craftsman and an educator.
Throughout his career, Merz has closely collaborated with master cabinetmaker Kari Virtanen and the brand Nikari. Since 1996, he has been a member of the cooperative of artists and artisans in Fiskars. In 2006, he was named Artisan of the Year by the Finnish Association of Designers, Ornamo.
