Description
HAY's Tapis rug, designed by Julie Richoz, has a raw, natural texture that results from a tactile blend of jute and cotton. Seen from a distance, Tapis looks two-toned and even, but a closer look reveals a surprising detail: the red colour is actually made up of a combination of red and yellow yarn, which together create the slightly asymmetrical stripes on the carpet. The rug has a non-slip backing for added functionality.

Julie Richoz (b. 1990) is a Swiss-French designer based in Paris. She established her own studio in 2015, and her clients include brands such as Mattiazzi, Alessi, Louis Poulsen and Louis Vuitton. Richoz has graduated from ECAL (University of Art and Design Lausanne), where she has also been teaching design since 2017.
