Kay Bojesen’s Songbirds Liv & Lycke are a gentle reminder of the importance of family and care. The large and small wooden birds can grace a home together as a charming duo or take flight on their own paths – for instance, when a child moves into their own room or eventually their own home. Painted in different shades of green, the birds’ bodies express their individuality, while their matching beaks symbolise an everlasting bond. This wooden bird pair also makes a thoughtful gift for a newborn, new parents, or a proud older sibling.
Inspired by the birds visiting his patio, Bojesen designed the Songbirds in the 1950s and named the original birds after his family members. After finding pictures of the cheerful beech birds in the family's old photo album, they were later added to the collection of Bojesen's animal figurines. The birds have a clean, modern expression, stripped of superfluous details, and yet are so lifelike that it is easy to imagine them breaking out in song as the sun rises.
