Hvass designed the first piece of the collection in 1999 for the Planken Ud exhibition at Designmuseum Danmark. Niels Hvass (b. 1958) is a Danish designer who graduated as a furniture designer from the Danish School of Design in 1987 and has since contributed to Danish design as a designer, teacher and board member. In 2008, Hvass founded design studio Strand + Hvass in Copenhagen together with Christina Strand. Hvass’ work has been exhibited in museums around the globe, and he has received many design awards including the Red Dot Award and Georg Jensen Award.
