Description

New Works' Atlas stool borrows both its name and its look from ancient Greece. Designer John Astbury drew inspiration for the shape of the seat from the columns of Greek architecture, while the name of the stool comes from Atlas, the titan of Greek mythology. And it's a fitting one, as the legs really do resemble the shoulders of the titan sentenced to hold up the heavens. The sturdy legs and round seat create a striking contrast that works beautifully as extra seating or as a side table. A glossy dark finish gives the Atlas stool even more character and brings out its remarkable form.

John Astbury

John Astbury is an English-born, Swedish-based designer with a versatile background as an anthropologist, boat builder and musician. Astbury graduated in 2011 from industrial design at the Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design and established his own studio in Stockholm in 2014. He finds inspiration from archetypes and origins and describes his work as a "process of uncovering narratives and symbols within the object and making them visible". Astbury has collaborated with design companies such as Skagerak, Muuto and &Tradition.

Shipping & Delivery

If all the items in your order are in stock, your order will be dispatched from our warehouse in Finland within two working days. The estimated delivery time is shown on the product pages and at checkout.

We offer free shipping on small items for orders over
4000 Kč.

For large items, free shipping applies to orders over  84 000 Kč.

“Small item” refers to parcels under 80 cm in length or weighing less than 25 kg. Larger or heavier shipments are classified as “Large item deliveries” (see below).

Please note that the free shipping thresholds stated above may not apply in certain cases. In such situations, any applicable shipping fees will be clearly displayed at checkout.

Large item delivery charge range from 800 Kč to 4000 Kč and is automatically calculated and displayed on the product page and at checkout. The exact cost is confirmed once your delivery address has been entered.

Large item delivery charges apply to any single parcel with a side longer than 80 cm or weighing more than 25 kg.

Please note that exceptions to these fees may apply to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of large or delicate items. In such cases, the final delivery cost will be displayed at checkout.

As a member, you’ll enjoy even better free shipping benefits on small items:

  • Level 2: Free shipping for orders over 3700 Kč
  • Level 3–4: Free shipping for orders over 2900 Kč

Exclusions apply: For large item deliveries, an additional surcharge is applied based on your location and the size and weight of your shipment.
