Lucia Eames Butterfly tapestry, 80 x 95 cm
Description
Nanimarquina's Lucia Eames Butterfly tapestry brings the lively warmth of nature to the walls of private homes and public spaces alike. The wall hanging is handcrafted from Afghan wool using kilim weaving technique and features a subtle palette that plays beautifully with colour and contrast.
The butterfly motif was a recurring theme in the work of Lucia Eames. The daughter of Charles Eames often found her inspiration in the wonders of nature, butterflies and birds among them. Now those same winged creatures find new life in the Lucia Eames collection, a collaboration between rug brand nanimarquina, the Eames Office, and Danish studio Form Portfolios.

American artist and designer Lucia Dewey Eames (1930–2014) grew up surrounded by design. Her father, Charles Eames, and stepmother, Ray Eames, helped shape 20th-century design. She also studied at Radcliffe College under Walter Gropius, among others. Eames' own artistic career developed from the 1960s onwards, and from the very beginning, her work was drawn to the natural world, from the sun to butterflies and flowers.
