Skultuna’s Barbara bottle opener combines a playful form with the elegant sheen of brass. Those familiar with kids’ TV may recognize the softly rounded shape: designer Thomas Sandell created the bottle opener inspired by the fictional character Barbapapa, as seen in the French children’s picture book and the television show of the same name.
As years go by, the bottle opener’s look will become more and more interesting, as the surface slowly patinas over time. It is characteristic for untreated brass to become darker over time, and water or the natural oils from your hands may leave marks on its surface. If you want the surface to stay shiny, it is recommended to polish the brass regularly. However, this is a matter of taste, and many prefer the beautiful patina.
