Description

Mater’s Conscious 3162 chair effortlessly blends 1950s aesthetics with modern recycled materials. The chair’s frame is crafted from certified solid wood, while its slightly curved seat and backrest are made from recycled composite material. Originally developed for school use and introduced in 1958, the Conscious chair was designed by two renowned Danish architect-designers: Børge Mogensen and Esben Klint. With its supremely clean lines and sturdy construction, this chair is truly a versatile piece, equally at home in a classroom, dining area, café, or meeting room.

The seat of the Conscious 3162 chair is made of Matek, a unique composite patented by Mater. Its tactile, textured surface showcases a captivating blend of recycled materials – the materials for this chair include coffee shell waste sourced from a Danish coffee roastery and recycled industrial plastic waste. All materials used in the Mater Circular Material collection are fully recyclable, and when the time comes, discontinued products can be returned to Mater for a new lease of life.

  • Care instructions Wood: Clean with a slightly damp, soft, lint-free cloth following the wood grains, dry with a soft cloth.
    Seat: Clean with a soft cloth wrung in a mild solution of lukewarm water and a universal cleaning detergent.
    Avoid use of abrasive cleaning agents and aggressive detergents. Avoid placing in direct sunlight, excessive heat or humidity.

Shipping & Delivery

If all the items in your order are in stock, your order will be dispatched from our warehouse in Finland within two working days. The estimated delivery time is shown on the product pages and at checkout.

The shipping cost is based on the destination, weight, and volume of the shipment and will be calculated automatically. You will see the exact rate, available shipping options and estimated delivery date at checkout once you have filled in your address details.

Please note that your order will be delivered as one full shipment once all the items are in stock.

Orders shipped to Australia are subject to Goods and Services Tax (GST) as following:

For private customers:

  • Orders of AU$1,000 or less (goods value only, excluding shipping and taxes):
    • A 10% GST is included in the prices and paid at checkout.
  • Orders over AU$1,000:
    • GST and any applicable import duties are collected by Australian customs upon arrival and must be paid by the recipient. Since GST is collected by customs, it is deducted from the order total at checkout and shown as a separate line item in the cost breakdown.

Please note that our product pages display prices including 10% GST. As a result, the AU$1,000 threshold effectively applies to orders with a displayed goods value of AU$1,100 or more.

Delivery terms

Orders are shipped on a DAP (Delivered at Place) basis. This means that any GST, import duties or other charges assessed by Australian customs or the carrier must be paid by the recipient in order to release the shipment.

Please note that the right to return products does not apply to:

  • Custom-made products which are ordered from the manufacturer according to the customer's wishes.
  • Custom-cut items (including fabrics and replacement webbing).

Please note that returns are subject to a restocking fee, which varies depending on your region and the item being returned. The restocking fee will be deducted from the total refund amount.
