Sami Kortemäki from Underware group has designed a mysterious yellow t-shirt for World Design Capital. “Even though the print may seem hard to understand, you will reach a plenty of street cred with this shirt”, says Kortemäki about his design.
Altogether five Finnish designers have portrayed their view of the World Design Capital on a t-shirt: Illustrator Jesse Auersalo, Cartoonist Tommi Musturi, Sami Kortemäki from Underware group, designer Aino-Maija Metsola and architect and musician Tuomas Toivonen.

Helsinki is the World Design Capital in 2012. During the Design Capital year the theme is to consider the new role of design in a broad perspective and hope that the results will have long-term effects in the future. Perhaps the most important objective is to provoke discussion about how design could make our lives better, smoother and more functional.

The WDC organization has collected an assortment of Finnish design classics as well as future’s hit products for the Design Capital. The designers of the products are partly promising new talents and partly internationally recognized and appreciated Finnish design pioneers.
