Description

Lucius candleholder is an expressive ceramic object designed by the Finnish COMPANY for Artek. In Scandinavia, Saint Lucy's Day is celebrated in the deepest December with candle-lit wreaths to proclaim the victory of light over darkness. Lucia and its smaller companion Lucius help to bring light to the darkness and function as lovable decorative items either alone or together. Lucius candleholder fits one taper candle.

Designed by the Finnish-Korean designer duo COMPANY and released in 2019, the ceramic objects are part of the FIN/JPN Friendship Collection by Artek. The collection celebrates the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Finland and Japan. When designing the objects, COMPANY imagined what kind of gifts the Finnish delegation could have brought with them to Japan a hundred years ago. Each of the handmade, charmingly naive objects celebrates one seasonal ritual of the Finnish calendar.

COMPANY

COMPANY is a Helsinki-based design practice founded in 2000 by Aamu Song (b. 1974) and Johan Ollin (b. 1974), both of whom have graduated from the University of Arts. The Finnish-Korean duo runs its own shop Salakauppa (”secret store”) in Helsinki, and one of their best-known projects is called Secrets – in the project, Song and Ollin travel around the world searching for traditional manufacturing methods and creating new designs based on them. COMPANY’s work is displayed in permanent collections of museums such as the Design Museum Finland and the Icelandic Design Museum. In 2010, Song and Ollin received the Finnish State Award for Design.

If all the items in your order are in stock, your order will be dispatched from our warehouse in Finland within two working days. The estimated delivery time is shown on the product pages and at checkout.

The shipping cost is based on the destination, weight, and volume of the shipment and will be calculated automatically. You will see the exact rate, available shipping options and estimated delivery date at checkout once you have filled in your address details.

Please note that your order will be delivered as one full shipment once all the items are in stock.

15% GST is included in all prices presented on our website.

Private customers: For orders of NZD$1,000 or less, a 15% GST is included in the prices. For orders over NZD$1,000, GST is collected by New Zealand customs and therefore deducted from the total amount. The deduction is visible in the cost breakdown at checkout.

Orders are shipped on a DAP (Delivered at Place) basis. This means that any GST, import duties or other charges assessed by local customs or the carrier must be paid by the recipient in order to release the shipment.
