Description

Mantis BS1-B floor lamp is a member of the Mantis collection, designed by Bernard Schottlander in England in 1951 and relaunched by the French brand DCWéditions. The Mantis lamp is a combination of flexibility and balance – it captures the feeling of movement. Mantis BS1-B floor lamp comprises a thin, counterweighted metal leg that rotates 360 degrees and can be tilted and locked into four different angles. The lamp has a round base plate and an elegant metal shade that gives it a unique, soft expression.

Besides being a designer, Schottlander was also a sculptor and engineer. Influences from his versatile background can be found in the counterbalanced structure, precisely bend thin metal bars and sculptural lampshades of the Mantis collection.

Bernard Schottlander

Bernard Schottlander (1924-1999) was born in Germany but moved to England to work when he was 15 years old. He worked at a factory as a welder and simultaneously took sculpture classes at Leeds College of Art. His technical knowledge in welding and also experience in sculpture influenced his work later on.

Shipping & Delivery

If all the items in your order are in stock, your order will be dispatched from our warehouse in Finland within two working days. The estimated delivery time is shown on the product pages and at checkout.

We offer free shipping on small items for orders over
150 €.

For large items, free shipping applies to orders over 3000 €.

“Small item” refers to parcels under 80 cm in length or weighing less than 25 kg. Larger or heavier shipments are classified as “Large item deliveries” (see below).

Please note that the free shipping thresholds stated above may not apply in certain cases. In such situations, any applicable shipping fees will be clearly displayed at checkout.

Large item delivery charge range from 29 € to 149 €  and is automatically calculated and displayed on the product page and at checkout. The exact cost is confirmed once your delivery address has been entered.

Large item delivery charges apply to any single parcel with a side longer than 80 cm or weighing more than 25 kg.

Please note that exceptions to these fees may apply to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of large or delicate items. In such cases, the final delivery cost will be displayed at checkout.

As a member, you’ll enjoy even better free shipping benefits on small items:

  • Level 2: Free shipping for orders over 129 €
  • Level 3–4: Free shipping for orders over 99 €

Exclusions apply: For large item deliveries, an additional surcharge is applied based on your location and the size and weight of your shipment.
