Fyr bookcase, high, UV lacquered pine
Description
The large bookcase from Normann Copenhagen's Fyr series offers storage space in a minimalist Scandinavian style. Use it as your personal library or create a changing exhibition of your most beloved possessions, displaying beautiful vases, candleholders, art glass pieces or wooden figurines. The bookcase was designed by Yuchen Wu.
The Fyr series is named after its material – "fyr" is Danish for pine. The bookshelves are made of thick pine planks, whose surface is dotted with knots characteristic of pine wood. Typically for the designer, these details are seen as an essential part of the material rather than something that should be covered up. Instead of a thick layer of paint, the shelving unit has been finished with a UV matte varnish, which allows the natural beauty of the pine tree to be seen in all its splendour and natural variability. In addition to the surface texture, it is typical for pine wood to patina over time, and the shade of the shelf will slowly change to a beautiful honey-like tone.

Pine will naturally change color as it ages with your pale piece of furniture gradually maturing to a beautiful honey color over the course of several years. - Care instructions Clean with a damp cloth.

Taiwanese designer Yuchen Wu worked in a design agency in Taiwan after completing her studies, where she was exposed to a variety of design projects, ultimately finding her passion for designing furniture and accessories. Yuchen made the decision to investigate the sector internationally in an effort to gather expertise and eventually found herself in Denmark working as an in-house designer at Normann Copenhagen.
A big source of inspiration for Yuchen's creative work is her childhood in Taiwan's lovely countryside, which is surrounded by stunning natural features including the sea and mountains. Achieving a healthy balance between aesthetics and usefulness is at the heart of Yuchen's design philosophy. Her goal is to produce designs that are both functional for daily usage and infused with beauty and poetry. Furthermore, Yuchen places a high priority on sustainability in her design work.
