Wild Vegetal Variations bowl 06, multicolour
Description
Serax's Wild Vegetal Variations bowl showcases Belgian designer Nadine Dewart's take on the wonders of nature at their most beautiful. Shapes and patterns drawn from the richness of the plant world meet a freely organic form with a lovely handmade feel. A clear glaze gives the pot a refined sheen that brings out the intricate detailing on its surface all the more. It's easy to picture the Wild Vegetal Variations bowl holding fruit in the kitchen or small treasures around the home, but it works just as well as a decorative piece to admire all on its own.

Nadine Dewart is a Belgian artist, born in Canada, who now lives and works in Brussels. Her practice has been shaped by a continuous exploration of materials and techniques: in the early years she worked with paper, three-dimensional pieces and stitching, and over time richer materials such as plastic, velvet and leather found their way in.
Dewart moves between collage, weaving and geometric composition, and in recent years she has also turned towards ceramics, where engraving and painting on clay play a central part. Plants are her main source of inspiration, though she never reproduces nature literally: her organic forms look instead to reflect its vitality, unpredictability and capacity to surprise.
