Lightness: Ilkka Suppanen, published by Lars Müller Publishers, presents one of the most internationally recognised names in contemporary Finnish design. Ilkka Suppanen (b. 1968) is an award-winning designer who founded his own studio in 1995. His wide-ranging career spans architecture and furniture design to coin design, conceptual work for the automotive industry, and socially engaged projects – including initiatives for India’s casteless community and the homeless in São Paulo. Suppanen is also known for his collaborations with brands such as Marimekko and Cappellini.
The 230-page book features in-depth essays and a curated selection of Suppanen’s work, all connected by the overarching theme of lightness. It also includes the designer’s own reflections on the topic. The book was edited by curator Gustaf Kjellin in collaboration with Suppanen.
