The 2022 CH24 Birthday Edition chair is an elegant combination of teak wood and cognac-colored leather.
THE DANISH Carl Hansen & Søn’s CH24 chair, also known as Wishbone, is a true design classic. The wooden, graceful chair model has been in production for over 70 years and delighted design lovers all over the world.
To celebrate the life’s work of designer Hans J. Wegner, Carl Hansen & Søn introduces the CH24 chair in a special, limited edition on the furniture architect’s birthday on April 2nd. In 2022, the exclusive CH24 Birthday Edition chair is made of certified teak wood and olive-tanned tanned leather.
Designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1949, the Wishbone is a masterpiece of traditional craftsmanship with a manufacturing process involving more than 100 steps.
Teak and leather are natural and adaptable materials that will develop a characterful patina over time and use.
The special edition features a small brass plate engraved with the signature and date of birth of Hans J. Wegner.
Due to the natural materials, each chair is one-of-a-kind and will only get better with age: the orange hue of the oiled teak wood will slowly shift to a darker reddish-brown, while the cognac-colored aniline leather will show marks of use and shade variations that tell stories of precious moments spent sitting on the chair.
With seating comfort in a class of its own, the CH24 is a great choice both around the dining table and at the desk.
When designing the chair, Wegner wanted to combine the backrest and armrests into one piece: for this purpose, he developed the Y-shaped back, which earned the chair the name Wishbone.
The combination of warm teak wood and cognac brown leather is an elegant and timeless option to decorate the dining areas – the beautiful seat invites you to enjoy candle-lit dinners, long breakfasts, and meaningful conversations over a cup of coffee.
