Collaboration with The Met
In 2025, Finnish Design Shop strengthened its international presence through several landmark collaborations. One of the year’s most significant highlights was the Tones of Modernism home collection, launched in early December in collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Created in celebration of the Helene Schjerfbeck exhibition, the collection was presented at events in New York and received wide attention both internationally and in Finland.
The collaboration with the renowned Met marked a fitting culmination of the year and brought together several Finnish brands. The resulting collection demonstrated how high-quality Nordic design resonates on a global scale. Finnish Design Shop’s CEO, Noora Tirkkonen, also spoke about the collaboration and the New York events on Finnish public broadcaster Yle’s morning TV show.

Design events and encounters
After celebrating Finnish Design Shop’s 20th anniversary in 2024, the year 2025 saw us take an even more active role at key design gatherings.
At Helsinki Design Week’s main venue, Suomitalo, we hosted a pop-up restaurant in collaboration with Restaurant Kuurna, where the new La Pittura tableware collection by Danish brand HAY was presented. Designed by Emma Kohlmann, the collection launched in Finland exclusively at Finnish Design Shop.
In September, we also took part in the Habitare design fair for the first time, in collaboration with HAY. Habitare offered the Finnish Design Shop team a new way to meet customers and partners, and to connect with audiences in a different setting.

Inspiration at the Turku showroom & shop
Finnish Design Shop’s own showroom & shop in Turku served as an active venue for events and encounters throughout 2025. Seasonally changing exhibitions brought fresh inspiration to the space and drew a record number of visitors to linger, learn, and be inspired by carefully curated displays.
Over the course of the year, the showroom and restaurant hosted a wide range of events, including flower workshops, a SEES fragrance workshop, summer pop-up restaurants, and an art exhibition showcasing abstract works by Juhani Melender.

Ten years of Trade & Contract sales
In many ways, 2025 was a year worth celebrating, and one of its highlights came in September, when Finnish Design Shop’s contract sales marked its 10th anniversary. The milestone was celebrated together with GUBI at a Design Disco event that also coincided with the relaunch of Pierre Paulin’s iconic F300 lounge chair. Throughout the year, several other client events were also organized.
Smooth collaboration with interior design professionals and architects, both in Finland and internationally, remains at the heart of the project sales team’s work. The year was further defined by the generous and positive feedback received from clients, which the team found especially rewarding.
Projects furnished by Finnish Design Shop’s contract sales team were also featured on Design Stories. Recent examples include Reima’s new headquarters, the renovated Villa Lante in Rome, and the Lippa summer restaurant in Helsinki. While very different in character, each project highlights how Nordic design adapts naturally to a wide range of environments.
The project sales team also reached new sales records during the year, but more important than the numbers was the seamless collaboration with our inspiring clients in Finland and abroad.

The selection grew – more than ever before!
Finnish Design Shop’s product selection reached a new milestone in 2025. By the end of November, more than 7,000 new products had been added to the online store. That's an increase of around a quarter compared to the previous year.
A total of 32 new brands were introduced, including both internationally recognized names and Finnish makers. New additions ranged from the iconic lighting brand Ingo Maurer and the colorful rug manufacturer cc-tapis to Norway’s Varier, Italy’s Cassina, and Finland’s Kalevala Koru.

In support of equality
In 2025, Finnish Design Shop continued its values-driven work through collaborations and donations, which are concrete ways to support equality and inclusion. In March, International Women’s Day was marked with a joint initiative with Franckly, resulting in a €5,000 donation to UN Women Finland.
In June, Finnish Design Shop was proud to serve as a partner of Helsinki Pride for the sixth consecutive year. As an official Support Partner, Finnish Design Shop contributed €10,000 to support Helsinki Pride’s human rights work.
Another essential part of Finnish Design Shop’s values is circularity. Franckly, the marketplace for pre-owned design, continued its activities with a focus on durable, timeless pieces whose value endures. In November, Franckly’s Armi Laurila also shared insights in an article by Ilta-Sanomat (in Finnish only), discussing how interest in pre-owned design glass has evolved and which pieces are currently most sought after.

1.2 million kilos of design
During 2025, Finnish Design Shop shipped an impressive 1.2 million kilos of Nordic design from its own logistics center to destinations across Finland and around the world. Over the course of the year, orders were delivered to a remarkable 96 different countries.
High-quality Scandinavian design captured the interest of customers from India to Indonesia, and one order even made its way from Finland all the way to the island nation of Fiji in the South Pacific.

Even more Design Stories
2025 was a strong and diverse year for Finnish Design Shop’s online publication, Design Stories. This was made possible by our contributors and readers in Finland and around the world. One of the year’s most popular features took readers inside Tove Jansson’s studio, offering a rare glimpse into a space that holds a special place in Finnish cultural history. The studio and its photographs were later also featured in Nordic Atelier Homes, a book by our contributors Anna-Kaisa Huusko and Niclas Mäkelä.
