Arthur Umanoff (1923–1985) was an American industrial designer who designed a wide range of furniture, lighting and interior items. Umanoff graduated from the New York Pratt Institute and the American School of Design in the 1950s. In addition to his simple and timeless designs, Umanoff paid special attention to the functionality and attainability of the product. He favored quality natural materials such as walnut, birch, rattan, leather and wrought iron. Umanoff’s designs represent the American mid-century modern movement.
