Description

String panels form the basis for the entire String shelving system. String floor panels can be combined with the shelves and other elements of String System in numerous different ways.

String System is a versatile modular shelving system that Swedish architect Nils Strinning designed in 1949. The signature ladder-like floor and side panels can be combined with shelves, magazine shelves, desks, folding tables, chests and cabinets to form a system that best suits your needs. The timeless and minimalist design of String System is perfect for both contemporary homes and offices.

Nils Strinning

Swedish architect Nils Strinning (1917–2006) was one of the designers who laid the foundation for what is now widely recognized as Scandinavian style. He rose to international fame in the 1940s with his design of the iconic String shelving system.

String was launched in 1949 as part of a design competition organized by the Swedish publishing house Bonnier, and it quickly became a classic of modern, functional design. Strinning’s work has received numerous accolades, including a gold medal at the Milan Triennale, and the String shelving system remains one of Sweden’s most iconic design exports.
