Description

Vitra's Panton chair is one of the best-known classics of modern furniture design. Designed by Verner Panton in 1960, the Panton chair reflects perfectly the experimental design mentality of the 1960s – back then, it was the first chair made of a single piece of plastic.

A great number of different versions of the Panton chair have been launched during the years, but it wasn’t until 1999 that Vitra began manufacturing the Panton chair with its original design. Made of durable, coloured polypropylene with a matte finish, the ergonomically shaped seat and slightly flexible material make the Panton chair pleasant to sit on. The material also allows the eye-catching Panton chair to be used outdoors on the balcony, patio or in the garden. In 2021, the chair's proportions were updated to better meet the needs of modern-day life.

Verner Panton

Verner Panton (1926-1998) is considered one of Denmark’s most influential furniture and interior designers in the 20th century. Panton’s works are represented in numerous museums worldwide, and he was awarded several prestigious design awards. He was a unique designer with a special sense of colour, shape, light function and space.

Panton was trained as an architectural engineer in Odense and after that he studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen, graduating in 1951. During his career, he created innovative and futuristic designs in a variety of materials, especially plastics, often using very vibrant colours. Panton also introduced a series of modern lamps with personalities unlike any of his Scandinavian contemporaries. The Panthella lamp, created in 1971, is one of the most famous luminaires by Panton.

Panton was also famous for his inspirational and colourful personality. “The main purpose of my work is to provoke people into using their imagination. Most people spend their lives living in dreary, grey-beige conformity, mortally afraid of using colours. By experimenting with lighting, colours, textiles and furniture and utilizing the latest technologies, I try to show new ways, to encourage people to use their imagination and make their surroundings more exciting,” Panton commented on his designs.

If all the items in your order are in stock, your order will be dispatched from our warehouse in Finland within two working days. The estimated delivery time is shown on the product pages and at checkout.

We offer free shipping on small items for orders over
 700 zł.

For large items, free shipping applies to orders over 15 000 zł.

“Small item” refers to parcels under 80 cm in length or weighing less than 25 kg. Larger or heavier shipments are classified as “Large item deliveries” (see below).

Please note that the free shipping thresholds stated above may not apply in certain cases. In such situations, any applicable shipping fees will be clearly displayed at checkout.

Large item delivery charge range from 150 zł to 799 zł and is automatically calculated and displayed on the product page and at checkout. The exact cost is confirmed once your delivery address has been entered.

Large item delivery charges apply to any single parcel with a side longer than 80 cm or weighing more than 25 kg.

Please note that exceptions to these fees may apply to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of large or delicate items. In such cases, the final delivery cost will be displayed at checkout.
