World Design Capital Streets Ahead CD includes 13 songs from brilliant Helsinki based artists. Like the Design Capital itself, also the music on the CD is international: the songs have been recorded in Berlin and Helsinki, there has been co-operation with a West-African orchestra and the singers on the CD are from Finland, United States and Norway.The songs for the Streets Ahead CD are chosen by an urban culture multitasker Antti Eerikäinen. The artists on the CD present the most interesting music scene at the moment in Helsinki. Listen how Helsinki World Design Capital sounds like!

Helsinki is the World Design Capital in 2012. During the Design Capital year the theme is to consider the new role of design in a broad perspective and hope that the results will have long-term effects in the future. Perhaps the most important objective is to provoke discussion about how design could make our lives better, smoother and more functional.

The WDC organization has collected an assortment of Finnish design classics as well as future’s hit products for the Design Capital. The designers of the products are partly promising new talents and partly internationally recognized and appreciated Finnish design pioneers.
