Warm brass and dreamy pastels – introducing Louis Poulsen’s fall arrivals
Louis Poulsen's fall novelties for 2022 include two limited-edition additions to the PH series, which will be launched in October.
AS THE NIGHTS GET DARKER here in the Nordics, we can’t help but get excited about the season’s new lighting releases. Some of the most awaited ones, at least in the Design Stories team, have been Danish Louis Poulsen’s iconic designs in new pastel colorways: the brand launched the classic PH 5 pendant lights and Verner Panton’s playful Panthella Mini and Panthella Portable in dreamy cotton candy hues. And how about the latter two in a bright coral – just wow!
Additional releases are due in October when limited edition brass versions of the PH 3/3 pendant and PH 3/2 table lamp are introduced. As the name suggests, they are available for a limited time only, so stay tuned!
The new shades of the PH 5 Monochrome series are the pale pink rose and oyster grey, a beautiful brown-grey. The full matte finish emphasizes their powdery tones.
The dreamy shades of the PH 5 Pastels lamps add a delicate yet also playful touch to the classic design. These lamps have a semi-matte finish.
Sweet like candy
If you like pastels, you’re in for a treat! Poul Henningsen’s classic PH collection is expanding with new editions of the PH 5 pendants that are sure to make you drool: the semi-matte PH 5 Pastels lamps are colored with hues of blue, rose and peach, as well as a soft and sophisticated gray hue called oyster grey. The baby pink rose color and oyster gray were also launched in the PH 5 Monochrome pendants but with a matte finish.
Poul Henningsen designed the first table lamps of the PH collection in 1927. The limited edition, to be launched in 2022, is made of opal glass and brass.
Brass exudes sophistication and elegance. The surface of the PH novelties is untreated, so it will develop a patina over time.
The warm glow of brass
The PH series will see new arrivals again already in October, this time with limited editions in brass. The new versions of the PH 3/3 pendant lamp and the PH 3/2 table lamp combine opal glass and untreated brass, which will acquire a gorgeous patina, typical of the material, over time if left untreated.
Both lamps are engraved with Poul Henningsen’s initials P.H., and they will only be available for a limited time – we expect them to become sought-after collector’s items in future auctions.
The new colors of the Panthella series are light blue and coral red. An old favorite, pale rose, is now available in Panthella's smaller sizes Panthella Mini and Panthella Portable V2, suitable for outdoor use.
All of the Panthella newbies are made of metal, which means that the light does not shine through their shade, but is directed downwards towards the trumpet-like base.
Bright-colored Panthella
New delicious colorways will also been added to Verner Panton’s iconic Panthella series. Like the “PH fives”, the Panthella arrivals have a delicate color scheme of pastel blue and pink, yet the cotton candy shades are accompanied by a scrumptious splash of color: coral. The radiant orange-red shade is the perfect accent color for a neutral-colored home, but it is striking enough to stand out even in a more colorful interior.
The first of Louis Poulsen’s new arrivals will arrive at Finnish Design Shop in September. The PH limited edition will be published in October.
