Description

The collaboration between Artek and designer Hella Jongerius has given new colours for the iconic Aalto stool. Stool 60, designed by Alvar Aalto for Artek, is one of the icons of Finnish furniture design. The three-legged Aalto stool is still today a beautiful, genius product whose simple shape will always be modern. Stool 60 makes a perfect extra chair and can also be used as a small table, for instance, next to an armchair or bed. The stools are easily stackable as a beautiful tower when not in use.

The Aalto stool was presented for the first time in 1933 and it was a sensation in the design world of its time. The stool’s revolutionary L-leg structure was a major boost for the modern Scandinavian design language. To bend the leg of Aalto’s stool, the same technique is still in use: a piece of straight, solid birch was sawn open at the end in the direction of the fibres, forming the shape of a fan. Thin pieces of birch veneer were then glued in the grooves. This structure makes it possible to bend the wood by heating or steaming at the desired angle and when dry, the L-leg will have a very strong texture that can be easily joined to the seat.

If all the items in your order are in stock, your order will be dispatched from our warehouse in Finland within two working days. The estimated delivery time is shown on the product pages and at checkout.

The shipping cost is based on the destination, weight, and volume of the shipment and will be calculated automatically. You will see the exact rate, available shipping options and estimated delivery date at checkout once you have filled in your address details.

Please note that your order will be delivered as one full shipment once all the items are in stock.

9% GST is included in all prices presented on our website.

Private customers: For orders of SG$400 or less, a 9% GST is included in the prices. For orders over SG$400, GST is collected by Singapore customs and therefore deducted from the total amount. The deduction is visible in the cost breakdown at checkout.

Orders are shipped on a DAP (Delivered at Place) basis. This means that any GST, import duties or other charges assessed by local customs or the carrier must be paid by the recipient in order to release the shipment.
