Description
Lapuan Kankurit's Kokki linen apron features a modern checked pattern designed by Elina Helenius, inspired by the traditional checks often seen in kitchen textiles. What sets Kokki apart from its predecessors is its jacquard-woven pattern, created with a double-layer structure on a single-colour warp. In practice, this means the pattern appears on both sides of the fabric in different shades, so you can wear the waist-tied apron either way around.
Named after the Finnish word for "cook", the Kokki collection's kitchen textiles are woven from washed European linen, known for its naturally relaxed, crinkled texture and excellent absorbency. The collection is woven at Lapuan Kankurit's own weaving mill in Finland; the company name translates as "Weavers of Lapua."

- Care instructions Wash separately at 60 °C (40 °C is sufficient) with a small amount of neutral detergent. Avoid softener and bleach. Slow spin, no tumble dry. Reshape while damp and iron on linen setting. Linen may shed fibres so check lint filter. Natural linen lightens with washing.

Elina Helenius (b. 1963) is a Finnish textile designer with a focus on surface, colour and pattern design. She graduated from the University of Art and Design Helsinki, Department of Textiles, in 1988. Helenius has worked widely in product design and product development, bringing Finnish design expertise to both domestic and international clients. Her collaborations include brands such as Aarikka, Adea, Doctor Design, Marimekko, Showroom Finland, and Lapuan Kankurit. Helenius has received recognition in several design competitions, and her work is featured in the collections of the Helsinki Design Museum, the Kyoto Textile Resource Center, and the Röhsska Museum of Fashion, Design and Decorative Arts in Gothenburg, Sweden.
