Artek’s Riihitie plant pots are true citizens of the world and among the most well-known classics of Finnish modernism. Originally designed by Aino Aalto for the family’s home in Helsinki, the ceramic pots were also part of the collection that the Aaltos presented at the Paris World Fair in 1937. 80 years later, Artek launched the ceramic planters, named after the street address of their original setting, in celebration of the centenary of Finland’s independence.
Now, their journey continues with two entirely new colors that will be released as part of the Tones of Modernism Collection, a collaboration between Finnish Design Shop and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The special pink and yellow Riihitie planters are produced in a limited edition and available exclusively at Finnish Design Shop
