Alvar Aalto designed the Screen 100 in 1939.

A flowing form of Finnish design

Designed by Alvar Aalto in 1936, the Screen 100 is a true masterpiece of modern Finnish design. It's an object of organic beauty that continues to captivate decade after decade.

Made from thin, vertical pinewood slats, the Screen 100 is both versatile and flexible in form. It can be opened into a flowing, wave-like room divider, curved softly to shape a space, or rolled up for storage when not in use. Pinewood gives a warm, organic character to the lightweight room divider, bringing a touch of natural elegance to any interior.

The versatile screen works beautifully both as a room divider and as a decorative element.

Made of vertical wooden slats, the screen can be conveniently rolled up for easy storage if needed.

Finnish pine gives the Aalto Screen its warm and inviting character.

Alongside the 150 cm version already part of Artek’s standard collection, the Aalto Screen now returns in additional heights of 100 cm, 130 cm, and 180 cm. With these versatile options, there’s a perfect version for every space and style.

Originally designed as a cocktail cabinet, the Aalto cabinet 250 serves equally well as a centerpiece for festive gatherings or as an elegant storage solution for everyday items like tableware and linens.

Two Aaltos, one vision

We got the first glimpse of the Aalto cabinet 250’s return earlier this year as part of the Artek + Moomin anniversary collection. The elegant cocktail cabinet instantly captured hearts — and now, to the delight of design lovers everywhere, it makes a permanent return to Artek’s collection.

Crafted from warm-toned birch wood, the cabinet brings a natural softness and refined presence to any interior. Inside, it offers ample space for storing drinks, glassware, or tableware.

The compact birch cabinet fits seamlessly into both dining areas and living spaces.

The Cabinet 250 is often credited to Alvar Aalto, but the design owes just as much to his wife, Aino.

Archival drawings reveal that it was Aino who first imagined using the iconic L-leg in a cabinet. This idea that turned out to be both simple and brilliant, giving life to a piece that remains an essential part of Finnish design heritage.

The fan-legged Aalto stool X602 is made of Finnish birch.

Fan-legged beauty

Everyone knows Aalto’s legendary L-leg, but have you met its sibling, the X-leg? Also known as the fan leg, this elegant bundle of five slender L-legs made its debut in 1954.

The X-leg is formed from five traditional L-legs.

When first introduced, the collection included a range of X-legged tables, armchairs, and stools. From these, Artek has now brought back the three-legged Aalto stool X602. In the anniversary edition, the fan-shaped legs are paired with an elegant hexagonal seat made using the intarsia technique.

The light yet sturdy structure makes the X602 stool a true all-rounder: it's perfect as an extra seat, a side table, or even a bedside table.

The stool’s hexagonal seat is made from curly birch using the intarsia technique, with the flowing wood grain creating a pattern that appears almost flame-like.

But this treat is reserved for the quickest design lovers as the stool is available only as a limited, numbered collector’s edition. So if the fan-legged silhouette has caught your eye, now’s the perfect time to make it yours.
