The Candlestick, designed by Space Copenhagen for GUBI, is a great example of an item that only gets better as it ages. The candleholder is made of two contrasting yet somehow beautifully harmonious metals, antique brass and burnished steel, that both will develop a beautiful patina over time. The brass will slowly gain a warmer sheen, while the dark steel will gradually become more alive.
The shape of the Candlestick is very simplistic, creating a fascinating contrast to the animated, softly fluttering flame of a candle. Thanks to the minimalist look, it is also easy to envision the candleholder in a variety of settings from a single decoration on a windowsill to a row of several candles on a dining table, or as a composition of different-sized candles arranged neatly on a coffee table.
