Description

Johanna Gullichsen’s Nereus cushion cover is a modern interpretation of old Finnish weaving traditions. The cushion cover has a convenient zipper, and it belongs to Johanna Gullichsen’s Normandie collection, inspired by the era of luxury ocean liners and slow, elegant way of travelling. Made of thick, double-sided cotton, the Normandie collection features various graphic patterns in Scandinavian tones, designed and woven in Finland.

This cushion cover features the beloved Nereus fabric in reverse colours like a negative.

Johanna Gullichsen

Finnish textile designer Johanna Gullichsen was born in Somero, Finland and studied art history, literature and languages at the University of Helsinki before starting her weaving studies in Porvoo. Today, she runs her own brand, which specialises in woven textiles for modern living.

Gullichsen is inspired by handweaving and experimenting with different techniques, and that’s how most of her designs are born. In 2021, Johanna Gullichsen was awarded the Kaj Franck Design Prize, one of the most esteemed design awards in Finland.
