Description

GUBI's Doric coffee table borrows both its name and shape from the Doric order of ancient Greek architecture. Symmetry and simplicity are the hallmarks of Doric design, and you can see both at this coffee table designed by GamFratesi, interpreted with remarkable skill and a sculptural touch. The duo drew inspiration from the details straight from ancient columns, most notably in the legs, where inward-carved grooves soften the sturdy table without taking anything from its strength.

The Doric table is made from marble, another material familiar from ancient times. As with any natural material, the veins and colours running through the tabletop are entirely unique and vary from one table to the next. The Doric coffee table finds its place in living rooms and public spaces alike, and is guaranteed to charm everyone who sees it.

GamFratesi

GamFratesi studio was founded in 2006 by Danish architect Stine Gam (born 1975) and Italian architect Enrico Fratesi (born 1978). The studio is based in Copenhagen, though Gam and Fratesi are continuously traveling between Italy and Denmark for development and research of new projects. GamFratesi has designed furniture and lighting fixtures to Louis Poulsen, Gubi, Hay, Fritz Hansen and Skultuna, among others.
