In 20th-century Sweden, female entrepreneurship was not yet commonplace, yet female textile artists created several masterpieces during the century. With the Lilly rug, LAYERED aims to prove that a carefully crafted rug will never go out of style – its beauty is not bound by time.
The green-toned Lilly rug is made of 100 % wool, and its woven surface is decorated with a hand-knotted pattern whose design and technique nod to traditional ryas. Thanks to the rya parts' varying pile length, Lilly offers not only a visually three-dimensional but also a haptic experience: the longer and shorter piles feel different under your feet. As you might expect from a hand-crafted item, each rug is unique and might slightly vary in colour and size.
