Muuto’s Beam Portable lamp is a cordless, rechargeable version of the original Beam Lamp designed by Canadian Tom Chung. With its streamlined, pared-back look and versatile functionality, the Beam Portable features a 350-degree rotating aluminium body and an angled tube with fixed LED light sources at both ends. One end can be directed downwards to provide focused light for reading or working, while the other can be aimed upwards to create soft, reflected ambient light or brighter general illumination. Light intensity is adjusted using the three-step dimmer on the side of the lamp. The adaptable Beam Portable lamp feels at home in both private interiors and public spaces – and thanks to its rechargeable nature, it’s now ready to travel with you wherever you need it.

Tom Chung (b. 1990) is a Canadian industrial designer who was born in Vancouver. In 2016 Chung opened his own studio in Toronto, specializing in material objects and interior spaces. Chung’s designs often combine contemporary culture and traditions of local industry – a fine example is the lamp collection Cast, designed for Menu in collaboration with Jordan Murphy.
