Favourite Things is a playful pendant lamp designed by the Stockholm-based design company Chen Karlsson. With Favourite Things you can exhibit your treasured objects and highlight them beneath a light source. Favourite Things provides light like a normal lamp, but works also as a display for your favourite objects, which can be inserted thanks to an aperture in the side. The inspiration for the design came from a visit to the Natural Sciences Museum in Stockholm, where a polar bear was spotlighted inside a glass cabinet. The accentuated light source exposed the white creature dramatically. Chen Karlsson liked the effect of that particular cabinet and they immediately started to think about how to achieve something similar in a format more suitable for the home. That’s how the idea for the pendant lamp was born.
