What’s new: HAY by Phaidon

HAY, published by Phaidon, dives deep into the fascinating world of the well-known Danish design brand.

Phaidon’s new book HAY presents the beloved design brand that has been delivering irresistible colors, sparkling joy, and everyday wonders to all design lovers for over two decades.

HAY IS A NAME that has been on the lips of every design lover – and for a good reason. A new book by Phaidon reveals what has made this Danish design brand so loved for more than twenty years.

There are over 200 pages in the book filled with stories of HAY's history, interviews with both designers and partners, essays, and of course colorful images of the company's most important products.

Matin table lamp by Inga Sempé and Palissade bench by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec charm design lovers year after year.

Masterminds behind HAY: Mette and Rolf Hay. The couple is connected by their desire to make excellent design available to everyone.

HAY was born in 2002 when Rolf and Mette Hay met each other. At that time, they didn't share the same last name but even then they were united by the same strong professional vision: to make great design accessible to all in a simple, affordable, and fun way.

According to the duo, beauty and functionality always go hand in hand. “Every design begins with the feeling that there is a need for this product in the world,” they tell in the new book. “The need is often humble, a modest moment in our daily lives, which we believe can be made a bit better through good design.”

Rolf, Mette and some of the most loved HAY products.

HAY's versatile products bring colors, liveliness, and joy to everyday life.

Everyday items play a major role in HAY's collections. Sofas, chopping boards, towels, and toothbrushes, which once seemed completely ordinary, are transformed from everyday essentials into vibrant objects that bring joy and delight to day-to-day life.

The book is a great gift for all those who appreciate imaginative and beautiful design.

The hardcover book is perfect for aesthetes who decorate their homes or just for anyone who enjoys good, insightful design in general. Flipping through the colorful pages, only one question comes to mind: what marvelous project will this Danish brand come up with next?
