Rice paper bubbles and plates from outer space – introducing Normann Copenhagen’s new arrivals

The shape of the Puff Bulb lampshade is reminiscent of a light bulb. The Puff series includes four different rice paper shades as well as a table and floor lamp.

Finnish Design Shop’s selection has recently expanded with an abundance of new arrivals from Normann Copenhagen, including everything from playful rice paper lamps to gorgeous glass plates whose swirled pattern evokes images of galaxies far, far away. Take a look at our picks and find your favorite!

Bright and bubbly

Rice paper shades continue to be super popular among design fans. Normann Copenhagen’s new Puff lighting collection is designed by German-born Saskia Hübner, who has previously worked very closely with Normann Copenhagen: she worked in the brand’s own design team for four years before focusing on her own design studio.

Although most rice paper lamps are round, the Puff lamps come in a multitude of whimsical shapes – one looks like a peanut, while another looks like a light bulb.

Simon Legald sought inspiration for the Rib sideboard from the architecture of Nordic summer cottages and vacation homes.

Summer house minimalism

The leisurely atmosphere of a summer’s day, but translated into minimalist furniture? Sounds dreamy! The Rib sideboard is decorated with vertical slats that make its doors look a bit like the paneled walls of Nordic summer houses – and that’s exactly where designer Simon Legald sought for inspiration when creating the design. To further emphasize the relaxed feeling of a vacation home, Legald even left out handles that would break the visual symmetry. Instead, the doors open with a gentle push.

The minimalistic Pose mirror stands on a round marble plinth, which makes it balanced both literally and visually.

Strike a pose

Also designed by Simon Legald is the geometric Pose mirror that comprises solely three elements: two circles that form the mirror’s marble base and the reflective part itself as well as a metal tube holding it all together. The Flip mirror is a firm fan favorite from Normann Copenhagen, but perhaps the Pose mirror will offer a nice alternative to those who prefer an even more stringent design language.

The Cosmic glass plates add a galactic touch to the everyday breakfast table as well as special occasions.

A sprinkling of stardust

The Cosmic plates’ frosted glass surface is adorned with a swirl that makes one think of distant galaxies beyond our solar system. The plates are hand-blown, so each swirl is unique – just like each galaxy has its own unique collection of stars. All we can say is: Beam us up, Scotty!

The bright green Klip lamp has a metal shade that can be rotated 360 degrees to help you direct the light exactly where you need it.

Spot of color

If you’ve been looking for a simple yet colorful wall lamp, look no further! The bright green Klip wall lamp has a stripped-down design infused with just the right amount of playfulness to add a fun touch to your bedroom or perhaps for lighting up the kitchen counter. Klip is yet another creation by one of Normann Copenhagen’s right-hand designers, Simon Legald.
