Description

The String cabinet with a flip door complements the String shelving system in an elegant and practical manner. Suitable for all 11.81 in (30 cm) deep String panels, the cabinet features an upward-opening door and one adjustable shelf. This versatile flip-door cabinet is equally adept at organizing tableware in the kitchen or neatly storing accessories and clothes in the hallway.

String System is an iconic modular shelving system that was originally designed by Swedish architect Nils Strinning back in 1949. The signature ladder-like side panels can be combined with different shelves, magazine racks, work desks, folding tables, chests and cabinets, allowing you to create a customized system that best suits your needs. The timeless and minimalist design of the String System makes it an ideal choice for modern homes and offices, and the versatile shelving system can be endlessly expanded both vertically and horizontally. String Furniture remains dedicated to designing and manufacturing its products in Sweden.

Nils Strinning

Swedish architect Nils Strinning (1917–2006) was one of the designers who laid the foundation for what is now widely recognized as Scandinavian style. He rose to international fame in the 1940s with his design of the iconic String shelving system.

String was launched in 1949 as part of a design competition organized by the Swedish publishing house Bonnier, and it quickly became a classic of modern, functional design. Strinning’s work has received numerous accolades, including a gold medal at the Milan Triennale, and the String shelving system remains one of Sweden’s most iconic design exports.
