Hélène Lepinay

Hélène Lepinay is a self-taught French artist, born in Paris. She has worked with a wide range of materials: rope, wool, bronze, and feathers are all familiar in her practice. No wonder her work has been recognized with the prestigious Paul Landowski Prize.

Moving to Belgium opened a new chapter in Lepinay's work. There she began painting nature and animal motifs onto raw porcelain, and gradually found her way to clay as well. Her pieces in clay and stoneware return to earthy tones: vegetal greens, warm ochres and deep browns. The forms are soft and harmonious, bringing a little of the outdoors inside. The countryside, plants and animals remain Lepinay's greatest source of inspiration.
