Medusa pendant

Description

Established & Sons’ Medusa pendant light captures the rhythmic, floating movement of jellyfish in glass. Designed by Carlo Nason in 1970, this captivating lighting classic is made of mouth-blown glass shaped into soft, flowing layers that melt into one another, with the LED light source tucked away at their heart. The matt, beautifully translucent opal glass gives the light a gentle character, while the dark aluminium frame adds a striking contrast.

Drawing on Italian modernism and the glassmaking traditions of Murano, the Medusa pendant light brings the magic of handcraft and soft, even, glare-free light to a dining table, living room or bedroom. Medusas are equally delightful as a swarm of several jellyfish.

Carlo Nason

Carlo Nason (1935–2026) was one of Italy's most respected and best-known lighting designers. He was born into a Murano glassblowing family and was introduced to its craft traditions early on at the family's glassworks. That background led him naturally into the golden age of Italian design, where he brought together the centuries-old techniques of Murano and the new ideals of the post-war avant-garde. His work shows both the influence of the Space Age and echoes of Art Deco, and his lamps, sculptures, and vases are held in collections including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Corning Museum of Glass.
