Description

The Lost lamp by Magis boasts a simple yet striking design characterised by a surprising protagonist: the empty space. Created by BrogliatoTraverso, the lamp presents a re-imagination of the conventional lampshade, in which the entire structure is eliminated, leaving behind only the perimeter and creating a fascinating, thought-provoking central void.

To further highlight the unusual design – as if to mark the boundaries of the void – the designers have decided to wrap the lamp's LED light source over the outside of the circle instead of placing it inside the perimeter, as you usually would expect. This complex engineering decision creates a powerful graphic image that makes one think of a black hole or perhaps a lunar eclipse, especially from a certain angle when only a crescent of the light is visible.

The small wall/ceiling lamp has 252 LEDs that provide a warm white light suitable for a variety of spaces. The integrated touch dimmer makes the lamp even more versatile: just touch the inner perimeter to turn the lamp on and off, or hold a bit holder to dim. This lighting design is not merely a lamp; it is a work of art that sparks your imagination and invites you to create your very own connection to it.

Brogliato Traverso

BrogliatoTraverso is a design agency founded by Alberto Brogliato and Federico Traverso in 2014. The duo established the studio after completing their architecture degrees at Venice University in Italy and gaining international experience in the field of design, including learning how to blow glass in Murano and working with traditional ceramics in Japan.

BrogliatoTraverso's design philosophy, "NO TIME, NO SPACE," alludes to their desire to create objects with a timeless aesthetic that seem at home in any setting. This they achieve by subtracting, simplifying and streamlining until the object's details are nearly imperceptible – but nevertheless still there.

The duo has worked with the likes of Magis, Cappellini, Guzzini, Infiniti and Il Fanale/Torremato, and they have received several international honours as a result of these collaborations, including the ADI Index, Red Dot Design Award, German Design Award, iF Design Award, and Good Design Award.
