Man Ray

Man Ray (1890–1976), born Emmanuel Radnitzky, studied art in New York, where his early exposure to modernism and experimental thinking laid the foundation for a groundbreaking career. He later moved to Paris, where he became an influential figure in visual art, photography and film.

Man Ray was a central force in both the Dada and Surrealist movements. He was known for pushing artistic boundaries with wit, invention and unpredictability. He gained particular fame for his photography and for pioneering “rayographs”, which were camera-less images created using light-sensitive paper.
